So I did the extra hard mode, meaning every icon is inspired by a musical genre (hover for it) as well as the icons/resources provided in the post. On top of that, I decided to approach this scientifically and icon my top music genres (based on my last.fm account that I've had since 2007), and also get inspired by one favorite band from each genre (kinda hit a hurdle when I realized I listen to like... 90% rock and that's NOT EVEN AN OPION FROM THE POST lol, so I used punk cause it had the vibe I thought of when I imagined rock icons?), with each icon being vaguely inspired by a different song. Though I didn't think too deeply about it, just had the song on repeat while iconing and let that guide me I guess. If anyone cares to check out the songs, every icon is a link to the song on youtube :D
I especially recommend checking out the 1st row of links because Gang of Youths is my favorite band ever, and they are FAR less known than they deserve to be. Do yourself a favor and make sure you have this band in your life u__u

These are wonderful! Crop on 7 and 8, and coloring on 3, 4 and 14 is simply beautiful :)

I absolutely love your rich, dark, and perfectly contrasted coloring. My favorites here are #9 and #15 such great compositions!

Haha sorry about not using rock in the post, I knew someone would notice this :D it's an obvious big omission of course and I really wanted to include it but wasn't sure how to differentiate it from punk and metal clearly enough, so I just used the more obvious extremes (you still could have made icons for the rock genre using the resources given for other genres, but it's more difficult of course and I hope it didn't restrict you too much!). Anyway, this post is gorgeous and I love extra challenges you came up with, and the way you made 5 per genre, such a fun way to do the challenge!

Ok, so I adore the punk icons in the first row!! They just have that colorful yet gritty vibe that's just perfect. LOVE the texture use and the color splash against darkness in 5 especially! The composition and use of silhouettes and textures in 2 is super fun and I LOVE what you did with the texture in 1! 3 is just striking, gorgeous composition and coloring, and 4 is simple but very effective, again with the flawless texture use!
The close crops in the classical row are incredible (love the crops, lighting, contrast) and 9 is also suuuper to my taste with the combination of different monochromes, lovely texture use & composition too.

Folk is my personal favorite genre so I listened to those inspirations songs, thanks for reccing First Aid Kit, I loved these songs, and the icons inspired by them of course! 11 is especially amazing, love the muted greens and the way you surrounded the character with forest textures, buyt 15 is great too with the textures and coloring.
The metal row is ofc ourse fantastic too, I especially love the super eyecatching colorings in 18 and 20!

Not enough video games icons out there!! I adore #4 and #5. The textures are beautiful. Also the colors of #29!

Such an amazing post! The 'music' set is beautiful and definitely has an overall rock/punk vibe with the gritty/colourful combo! I love the close crops and elegant feel of the 'classical' row though, and the wide crops of 12-13. Also love 22, 32 (never enough Mass Effect!) and 34!

WOW!! OMG!!! I don't know where to start! These are magnificent!!! <3<3 The composition is glorious, they all fit together so well! Omg!!!<3 It's so, so hard to pick fave, but I will try.
1 — Loove the green colors, blue lighting coming and the sparkle. Contrast is awesome!!
2 — Holy shit! Sorry :D LoveLoveLove!! how did you come up with these ideas. Your creativity is magnificent. Those silhouette charaters and the fact that everyone has own color. And the blending one the background!<3 Love the composition and the feeling here!
3 — Wow! I love this how glass break her face! Wonderful!!
4&5 — I love the composition both of them and the colors. The contrast is stunning on 5 and I love sharpening both of them<3
8 — Stunning crop! The contrast, muted color and sharpening are work of art!
12 — The green color and and the lighting is stunning.
15 — I love vibrant color, texture use and grunge feeling:)
16 — Stunning shadow/contrast!
17 — I love texture on the gun and red/black color composition.
